The population of Somali ethnic was estimated as 28.4 million in 2019 (The total Somali population, regardless borders); which made Somalis as the third largest ethnic group after Oromo (38.6 million) and Amhara (30.3 million) in 2019.
Somalis made 15% of the total population of 200 million living in the eastern Horn of Africa, from Serengeti plateau (along the border between Kenya and Tanzania) and Asmara, capital city of Eritrea. In another perspective; Somalis are 3 times larger than Kikuyu (8.9 million); and 5 times larger than the population of Tigrey (6.8 million). Somalis are also twice of the sum of the Kikuyu and Tigre population.
However, the political power and diplomatic muscle based influence of Amhara, Kikuyu, Tigrey, in the Horn of Africa with Somalis is totally different, simply because all Somali presidents and politicians are competing for claiming about who authorized off-loading sheep and goats from livestock carrier ship at the Jeddah port.
